The Bedford Society has now merged with the Bedford Archaeological & Local History Society (founded 1888), to form Bedford Architectural, Archaeological & Local History Society. The new Society (BAALHS) came into being on 17th September 2008, subject to the approval of the Charity Commission, which is confidently expected to be received in due course.
